![]() I recommend WHM if all you want to care about is healing and throwing out some damage.ĪST has access to 1 instant direct heal but gains a second charge at 78. Holy is your best form of damage mitigation hands down and also makes healing as a WHM even more easier. Stone III-IV/Glare is very nice to look at and does nice damage. WHM has access to 5 instant direct heals, making it very suitable for quick recovery and, I hate to say it, it's very anti-idiot - you can save idiots very easily. It's gcd healing, even early on, is powerful, so it's certainly not a bad healer, just a bad starting healer, as it being GCD bound will lead to mistakes and can foster bad habits for healing in general.Ĭan only give my thoughts on WHM and AST. It's slow, clunky, doesn't get a lot of tools until much later and severly lacks any oGCD healing for a very long time. White Mage is the only healer that's available from level 1 (as Conjurer), which is about it's only advantage in terms of new healer experience. But it does ramp up in complexity fairly quickly, so it's not the perfect first healer. ![]() The fairy is a decent safety net in lower levels. Gaining many, powerful tools early on, but not starting out with them. Scholar is a decent, middle ground option for a new healer. The only downside ofc being that Astrologian has to be unlocked via the story, so it won't be available for a brand new player/character. The additional card mechanic might seem overwhelming for a new player, but until level 50 it's incredibly simple and teaches to split attention. It has a very solid toolkit early on, which isn't necessarily true for the other healers. Imo, Astrologian is the best beginner healer. I’m a simple man, I see big hats, I play it ) Otherwise, healing on AST doesn’t feel as “powerful” to me as WHM (we did get a potency buff recently), but I feel like I have plenty of tricks to keep dumbass dps alive.Īnd AST is by far the most stylish healer you could ever have. You want to be pushing high endgame content, it’ll take some learning, but by then, you’ll have learned what you need on your way to 80. ![]() You can now throw them on anyone and it doesn’t truly matter in ANY casual content. I learned healing in FFXIV as AST, back before the class fantasy was gutted. It takes muscle memory, but so does anything. You have plenty of time between gcd’s to cycle to who you need to heal or dps next. The controller is very intuitive for using skills and you can highly customize how your targeting works. Controller is AMAZING for healing! (For all jobs, really, but I love it.) Be sure you put on the, err, I think it’s called extended crossbar?- depending on which shoulder button you hit first, you get a whole other set of buttons to use. ![]()
